Christmas Live Nativity

We love to go out and mark Christmas with an event in the town – to declare the true meaning of Christmas, and to enable people from the town to meet the churches around festive fun and entertainment.

Core to all of our recent events has been a ‘live nativity‘ scene, featuring animals from a nearby farm. We’ve had up to 3 donkeys in a temporary pen, for children to see and pet. These have been positioned next to a stable set. We’ve had opportunities for children to ‘get in the picture’ by dressing up in shepherds’ clothing and having their photo taken with the donkeys in the background.

Working together with Huntingdon Methodist Church, the display has also included a puppet show, with puppets singing versions of well known songs adapted to a Christmas theme. We’ve been privileged to have some of these carried live on Huntingdonshire Community Radio. Last year we were invited by Huntingdon Town Council to bring this stall to the town's Christmas Light Switch-on event.

The Christmas events allow us to get out on the streets and take the message to the community that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus. We seek to do that in a fun, non-confrontational, appealing way. We’ve made new friends and some have begun their connection with us through meeting us at these events.
